Chamberlain Nwanne is Founder and Executive Director of Gift Health Plus (GHP) Inc. As an immigrant from Nigeria, he understands that the immigration process with its attendant culture/economic shock can sometimes seem like “an obstacle course with a twist” to recent immigrants and often cause/exacerbate mental health issues. This was true for him 20 years ago and remains so for millions of people today, many of whom have no good recourse. There is also the recognition that within the past 2 decades, conflict and violence in many African countries have often left mental scars on their youth who eventually emigrate saddled with unresolved emotional baggage
The vision for GHP Inc stems from the recognition that mental health is often treated as a peripheral issue and when available, services are minimal. Yet, the cumulative effect of adverse mental health globally may sometimes outweigh many other higher profile health issues. We believe that increased awareness, accessibility of services and de-stigmatization of mental health issue will go a long way to improving the quality of life for many people, especially in the African Diaspora communities. It is a vision and cause Mr. Nwanne has embraced.
Chamberlain Nwanne has been an active player in Nigerian Diaspora community for years championing the repatriation of healthcare skills and resources to rural communities in Africa. This includes funding and organizing free medical missions to Nigeria, re-equipping rural health centers in Nigeria at no cost to them as well as arranging regular re-supply of medications needed for the management of many chronic diseases. Mr. Nwanne works in Healthcare IT. He has a Masters degree in Medical Informatics and is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Informatics with Bias in Public Health. He resides in New Jersey, USA with his family.

Chinna Iheakaram is the director of mental health programs at Gift Health Plus responsible for formulating the nature and scope of programs.  She is an astute and seasoned administrator with many years of management experience in behavioral health.

Ms. Iheakaram served as supervisory case manager with a non-profit agency in New York City dedicated to providing support to individuals with mental illness who were involved in the criminal justice system. This period in her career was pivotal in affording her an appreciation of the wide ranging catastrophic consequences of ignored or poorly addressed mental issues. She had found her niche in behavioral health and has since demonstrated her ability to make significant positive impact to the discourse on mental health issues. She became director of HIV/AIDS and Chronic Disease Management working to improve the quality of life for the population. She is currently managing clinicians in the behavioral health department of a Medicaid managed care plan. She has a holistic perspective to managing mental health; believing that it must be addressed in conjunction with other socioeconomic indicators.

Cosmas Ibe holds a deep and firm belief in the concept that giving back to one’s community is the ultimate show of appreciation for the good things one has gotten in life. Having immigrated to the United State some 35 years ago with little more than pocket change, tenacity and trust in God, he counts his blessings today with gratitude. Members of his community as it were, are in the African Diaspora community where there is an assortment of serious but often ignored mental issues. These issues are ravaging the community and causing untold harm. He is committed to doing all he can to help ameliorate the deplorable state of mental health awareness and services available to the African Diaspora community.
Mr. Ibe earned his MBA in Finance from the New York Institute of Technology, Old Westbury, NY and BS in Marketing from State University of New York, Old Westbury, NY. He also has extensive training and proficiencies in Work place security and emergence policies. He worked for many years at the New York branch of Portigon AG (formally WestLB AG) where he rose to the position of finance director. WestLB was one of the largest investment banks in Germany with total assets in excess of 200 billion Euros. As Director, he fostered a culture of teamwork and professionalism needed to drive senior and support staff to meet corporate goals. He advised board members on quality of assets and the treasury on strategic allocation of funds to maximize profits. He recently disengaged from Portigon AG and currently runs a financial consultancy firm with offices in New York (USA) and Lagos (Nigeria).
Mr. Ibe has dedicated himself to serving his community and making as much positive impact as he can. He has successfully organized and funded numerous free medical missions to Africa working with a network of indigenous doctors and medical providers. He is excited at the prospect of helping Gift Health Plus fulfill its mission bring relief to the needy.
